it is - it has the option to write to a CD but I think they either can't or won't use that facility - actually I find the prints worse than the old machine, especially as they try to save cost by adjusting the machine to avoid printing too black (runs the toner down) - I have repeatedly said I'd prefer non-paper images but still have to pay 40p a sheet.
The optimum is now to make a film scanner using a 4Mpixel digital scanner - that will give readable results for A4 sized pages - newspapers are still a pain though - many other libraries have reader operated microfilm printers
