Re: Starkey/Lewin
In Response To: Re: Starkey/Lewin ()

Yes, in previous messages we had established from censuses that Charles Lewin (poss. bapt 1807) was Margaret's father, and Isabella Cain (b.c.1810) was her mother. Their burials could be in the unindexed Saint Lukes, Baldwin, where Charles had bought a plot. I gave you the LDS film number to check.
And, yes, it looked as though William and James Starkey were brothers (same uncle, same grandparents).

In my message today I was looking at possibilities for their father James Starkey (who married Margaret Lewin), in light of the new marriage record information posted by Carol which gave his father as being James Starkey, farmer. Also in light of the 1851 Braddan census which gave James's birthplace as Maughold, a good possibility showed up in the 1841 Maughold census which appeared to show three generations of Starkeys, including James aged 9 who could be Margaret's future husband. Also there in 1841 was his father? James Starkey (a farmer in 1851) and James's parents.
Wondering why James aged 9 was living with his paternal grandparents and father, I looked for his mother - as given in my previous message. Only a theory, but one which fitted well, and I haven't found an alternative.
