There is a James Starkey aged 8 in the 1841 census, at Sands St., Douglas, with John Starkey aged 52 Labr, Ester Starkey aged 52, and Thos 20, Charles 10, Elizabeth 16. All b.Isle of Man.
This looks like the above James Starkey: Christening: 21 NOV 1832 Saint Mathews, Douglas, Isle Of Man, Father: JOHN STARKEY, Mother: ESTHER WATERSON, who I might have mentioned before as being a possibility to have married Margaret Lewin.
See the IGI for the seven children bapt Douglas, either St Matthews or St George. Ignore all the Church member submissions (in lower case). Look for "extracted" records (from the par register).
In 1851 he could be the James Starkey Unm 20 Joiner with his married sister Elizabeth Gelling ag.29 and her children at 42 Pembroke St. Liverpool, all b.IOM. Elizth Starkey was bapt 3 Oct.1821 Saint Mathews, Douglas (same parents as above), and married Edward Gelling 27 MAY 1843 Braddan.
There were other James Starkeys, so his father's name and occupation on his marriage cert is crucial information to get further back.
