Re: Starkey/Lewin

Sue, it is the Marriage cert which states his place of birth as Isle of Man, and aside, the often repeated statements from my mother about her grandfather telling the family about his birth place and Manx cats. Seems to be something that always stuck in her mind.
I have ordered printouts for his marriage as well as his death, his wife's death, and one of my grandmothers birth in the hope that these will give me more information and therefore some leads. My grandmother was named Doris Edith, which my mother claims comes from his William's wife, Edith. William and Edith's only son was named Douglas William, and now I think I know where the 'Douglas' came from. That has always been a mystery to my mother.

I have searched numerous passenger ship lists for Starkey's but it is difficult without a more precise timeline. Sometimes one can stumble upon entries, as I did for my paternal great grandfather who was only 4 when he emigrated.
