I have been reading your posts with great interest.Few
folk in the past " knew " their details in the absence of
certs etc. & even they can contain wrong info.Grandfather was sure he was born in Cork city Ireland & Dob but needed
birth cert. for pension & found he was "out". Another family member aged 60 sought a passport & found he was adopted.
Even my husband looked in amazement at his birth cert. 50+
& so a fair few forms were wrongly filled in.I have seen a
marriage cert where Registrar signed that Groom had no idea of
parentage -foundling / orphan but it would have been more probable to invent some.
