Sorry - typo - I should have written (aged 4 in 1841, 14 in 1851, 24 in 1861).

1861 census:

RATCLIFFE, Richard Son Unmarried M 19 1842 Apprentice Blacksmith Liverpool
RATCLIFFE, Catherine Daughter F 15 1846 Liverpool
RATCLIFFE, John Grandson M 2 1859 Liverpool
RG number:RG09 Piece:2720 Folio:53 Page:13. Liverpool Address: 6, 1 Court, Boundry Street, Kirkdale, Liverpool County: Lancashire [Findmypast]

Don't forget that it is always possible that JJ was registered late - the date was not date of birth, but date of registration. Until 1875 there was no penalty for failing to register a birth, or for registering one late. Other entries were "lost" or altered between the local registration district where the event was originally registered, and the GRO in London (whose indexes are used by FreeBMD). I'd get all three of those entries I posted for John Radcliffe, just in case, from the local RO. (Dec.1857; Sep 1860; Dec 1860.)

Where you say Ann Christian (informant on cert for Jane Eliza's child Margaret Jane) do you mean Ann Christian who married Richard Radcliffe, or Ann Christian Radcliffe their daughter, or was there another Ann Christian with no Radcliffe attached?

Thanks for the info.
Sue
