Thanks for the deaths information. Unfortunately English death certs (at that time, anyway) didn't have fathers' names. Apart from date and name, only age, occupation, cause, and details of informant. Sometimes a wife's occupation would be given as wife of so-and-so with HIS occupation, but unless a relative was the informant death certs are pretty useless, especially from 1866 onwards when the age is given in the indexes.
