The 'New' Manx Worthies
After much delay, the long anticipated "New Manx Worthies"
gen ed Dollin Kelly was published in 2006 (Douglas:MNH ISBN 0-9547-180-4-6)-
the following list is taken from the Index.
Unlike A.W.Moore's Manx Worthies
the criterion of Manx birth was not insisted upon, though, like Moore, all those
included had to be dead - initially the volume was to be restricted to those
dying after Moore had published his work in 1903, but this too was relaxed to
include some who were not treated by Moore. I have linked to any biographical
sketch I had on ManxNoteBook though usually the NMW will provide a fuller
sketch. One significant criticism of the New Worthies I can make is that
all too often the actual reference to published material is very skimpy.
