Daughter of Charles and Louisa Morrison - one of 9 (or more?) children. Charles Morrison owned many fishing boats and was in business in Peel. By the 1881 census she was living with widowed mother at 7 Athol Street Peel.
Probably best remembered for founding and editing Mannin and her book of Manx folk tales. An appreciation of her life is in the last issue of that magazine.
Averse to photographs as she had problems from childhood with her eyes giving
her a form of squint
Died 14 Jan 1917(stomach cancer) - See
also appreciation and biography by W Cubbon in Island Heritage chap 35
pt VIII p339/43.
Mona Douglas, who knew her, (Chap 43 This is Ellan Vannin 1965) gives
a sympathetic biography but quotes her age at death as 42 which is somewhat
at variance with census data.
