Thanks for your response, I have him married to Ann by 1841 so that may well tie in, also from the 1841 census they were living in New Market Place Lezayre Street next to the Skinner family. I know he was born in England but don't know where and can't find anything about him or Ann after 1871 when he was described as Post office letter carrier/shoemaker. Are there trade directories of the island from that time?
