Couldn't resist butting in, although not much to offer. Just wondered if the mystery "Coufr" could be "Confr" - perhaps confectioner? Or am I being swayed by the memory of the little cake shop run from the front room of the Misses Oates and Quayle about 120 years later in Hawarden Avenue/Woodbourne Square, Douglas?!

The N in "Ind" and even in "Mann" at the head of the page compares with the "U" in Coufr, I think.
