Re: A Clucas Family
In Response To: Re: A Clucas Family ()

Hi
I am searching the Enos Lace (born 1803) family. He married a Margart or maybe Margaret, Clucas in June 1832.
I have also found another Enos Lace (b 1837) who married a Mrs killey (b 1840) in 1861. They had 3 daughters - Alice Clucas Lace (1870), Catherine (1865 - no mention of Clucas on this one) and Ida Clucas Lace (1872).
I am fairly sure these were the Misses Lace who operated the Windsor Boarding House in Douglas.
I have an original copy of the Isle of Man Illustrated, which was published in 1899 and cost 1/-. The Misses Lace have an advertisement in this publication. We think Pete's great grandfather may have brought this out to Australia with him. His name is Daniel Lace (b1838 Port St mary) and married in Melbourne Australia, in 1879.
I have another bit of info where a Mr Killey (1845) came to Australia gold mining, in Ballarat, and on his return to IOM in 1871 married Miss Jane C. Lace - daughter of Enos and Catherine (Clucas) Lace.
In 1872 they went to USA. Jane (Lace) Killey died in 1879 - leaving 2 children, Florence and Percy Lace - and he married her sister Catherine Lace in 1884.
Hope some of this is a link for you. This all gets very involved and addictive!!
PS The parents of Enos - who married Margart Clucas were Daniel Lace and Cath Kee (I hope!) married Andreas November 1800.
