Re: A Clucas Family
In Response To: Re: A Clucas Family ()

Thanks Frances, Ann more than likely died in childbirth or as a result thereof.....

Am wondering if the husband/father is the John Leece who is buried at Patrick,18 June 1762..... a Leece lineage which I found at Ancestry.com and with which I am working has this as such.... maybe he committed suicide or something.... interesting that the Chapter Court "holden at Ballnahowin" for proving of Ann Parr's Will was also 18 June 1762.
There is another John Leece buried at German in 1784, so perhaps that maybe the father/husband too..... guess the relevant wills would answer the question.

The grandparents, James Parr and Margaret Parr seem to have died in 1780 & 1778 (Patrick) respectively, by which time the 3 young children would have been almost grown, anyway.

Mind you having got involved in all that, it still does not answer the question whether this Margaret Leece, bn 1761/2 is the wife of William Clucas and thus mother of Leece Clucas bn 1805... mind you one may fairly assume it to be so, perhaps.

A question Frances - the Parr family and this Leece family of Ballaleece seem to have been well-respected families in the area at the time. was there a Clucas family of similar ilk in the Patrick/German area which Margaret Leece may have married into?

One thing about genealogy, is that one also becomes a social historian as well as fact-finder, detective, and a heap of other things to boot.
