Re: Who is the ultimate Kermode guru?

Dear Libby,

1) thank you very much for your response to my post. Now, I am both excited and confused. Excited to get your information, which I found very interesting & intriguing, and confused alas because other responses to my post (from Frances Coakley & from Brian Lawson think that my Thomas Kermode's parents were James Kermode & Ann Kewin of Marown, not Willam Kermode & Mary Skeally of Malew.

2) you say "at least one (of the Malew Kermodes) went to Braddan & his family to Peel where they were shoe/boot-makers". I can't quite make the necessary cognitive leap, but I somehow feel this may be an important clue & so I will put it on file as such. Is it just a coincidence that Thomas Kermode's occupation in 1841 census is shown as "s ..."(indecypherable) (Brian Lawson's response) & that "occupations starting with S & ending with er include shoemaker" (Bruce Ingram's response).

3) re My Thomas Kermode (born 1818 died 1877) - I have no idea how many brothers & sisters he had, I haven't any family papers or records that would tell me. Do you have any info on that?

4) you mention that you were given genealogy notes that were written down by a cousin I personally never knew. This suggests you have had a family prior interest in the Kermode name. What is your interest in this? And how do you fit in genealogically speaking??

regards from Adrian Kermode
