Re: Best strings for Journal?
In Response To: Re: Best strings for Journal? ()

Hi all,

I could upset some people here with this article but I have to get it over to the board.

Ever since these interesting topics have come on line here at "Manx Genealogy " I have been enthralled by the items and many others. But back in 1995 on starting out on my Kneen Tree and everything Manx , I thought I had a wonderfull story about 1800's Manx Maritime History, so I sent it off to the Isle of Man F.H. Society hoping for an input into the journal ,but please note that I have nothing against it, I think it is informative and very interesting. I did receive a reply to say the story would be published, but alas it has never happened to this day.

This is my personal opinon and I might upset further members but I think the I.of.Man F.H.S. is singular in their response to "Gone overs" i.e Manx people like my self who have left the Isle to better themselves. I will give you a typical example, William Kneen the 1800-1900's artist who you can see on my web-site www.kneen.com under famous Kneen's. His story is amazing and something to follow, when I enquired at the Manx Museum they informed me you can have his photo but there is nothing much about him or his work, due his leaving the Island and settling in London.

I find this comment rather unfair when you look into his background in Kirk Christ Lezayre. I think being Manx where ever you are and I have found them in Rosta Rica as well.

My other suggestion is these major topics here do not need a web-site, only the defunked Isle of Man F.H.S Message Board with a listing not an archive of what we have already discussed and wrote about here.

I rest my case.
