Re: FARAGHERS from Minnesota, Ohio, etc.

Hello Ann,

I think Barbara was wondering if Catherine Callin was the sister of John Faragher(1803). As it happens she came from the south of the island , a parish called Malew, whereas John's sister came from the north in a parish called Andreas.

John (1803) had the following siblings:-

Ann 1817 , died young
mary 1806
William 1811
Catherine 1814
Anne 1818

Their parents were Thomas Fargher and Mary Kneale. Thomas died in 1819 and Mary went to live further down the coast of the Lhen area in Andreas at a place called Ballamona Cottage in the 1851 census, but was generally known as Croit Fargher or Faraghers Croft.

At this place she lived with another daughter called Eleanor Corkish and her children. This daughter was christened around 1823 Eleanor Fargher or Kneale in IGI but appears to have used her fathers name of Teare when marrying Samuel
Corkish - a mariner.
There was a Thomas Teare also at the croft in 1851.
