Re: FARGHER/QUINE/GORDON
In Response To: FARGHER/QUINE/GORDON ()

John fargher was born 12jan 1840 to william and isabella fargher (bridson), they were married 17 nov 1838 in malew, a parish stretching from castletown in the south through the centre of the island to marown in the middle. John married mary ann gordon 7 feb 1874 and by the 1881 census they had 7 children. Their address in the census is 3 Phildrwaw, malew and he was listed as a carter(agricultural worker). Most of the children were born before they married, Luesie j. 14 ann 12. margaret 10. emily 9. catherine 6. john h 3. edith 1. I notice from the ellis island register that a mary ann faragher arrived 1913 from umban isle of man and a later listing showed clara faragher arriving 1913 also from umbran. I have never heared of this place and it is strange they should get it wrong twice-so there may be more children after 1881. Mary ann gordon was born to william and margaret gordon 17 sept 1848. She was one of 4 children margaret 26 july 1846, eliza 15 feb 1857 and robert charles 12 july 1863 being others.
John fargher was one of 6, william 17 dec 1838, isabella6mar1842, elizabeth 19mar 1843, william 23 feb 1845, isabella 26sep.1848. The repeat name usually means the earliest died young, it was common to reuse the name. There is no sign of john quine but then mary and john's children do not appear on the LDS register so none of them may have been registered. Try asking for a look up from a helpful sole in the 1871 census for john quine possibly living with william and margaret gordon or mary ann gordon or john faragher and mary ann gordon, it may give his age and whereabouts.
I hope i am in the right area and there is something here for you.
