The last will and testament of William Corkill of Knock-Doo in the
parish of Kirk German, made this 16th day of March 1759.
First he committed his soul to God and his body to a Christian burial.
Item he left and bequeathed to his son William Corkill all his houses and
lands of what nature soever to be by him possessed and enjoyed at the
end and expiration of seven years. He the said William Corkill upon
possession of the same paying to his brothers and sisterrs viz Sarah,
Patrick, Joney, Thomas, John and ann the sum of nine pounds, their
shares or proportions whereof to be paid them as they arrive at the age
of 16 years.
Ann Corkill als. Kewley, wife of the deceased and executrix to this will
consenting and agreeing that her said son William Corkill should, after
her decease, have all her rights or shares of the houses and lands he upon
possession paying the like sum of nine pounds to the said children in
manner above.
He left to his son William Corkill his choice of the looms with the one
half of the wearing gears or implements.
He declared that he paid his daughter Catherine Kelly als Corkill the sum
of three pounds as portion or marriage dowry.
He nominated, constituted and appointed his loving wife Anne Corkill als.
Kewley whole and sole executrix of all the rest of his goods, moveable
and immoveable whatsoever. In consideration of which she was to bring
lup and take care of the children till they arrived at age, excluding all
other craving friends with six pence legacy each.
June 1, 1759. At a Chapter court holden at Balnahown.
Some disputes having arisen with respect to the legacy of this will
Patrick Kelly husband of Catherine Kelly, who is the daughter of the
testator, having alleged that force was used to influence said testator in
his will making, which allegation appears in court to be groundless,
whwereas further objections have been urged with regard he was----
to the testator, the parties so far as concerns this point have agreed
that the will shall be of full force, the executor paying to the surviving
children viz. Patrick, Joney, Thomas, John and Ann the sum of 20
shillings equally between them and William, the eldest son, paying said
children equally also the sum of 40 shillings, these sums to be paid as
said children severally arrive to lawful years. The said widow and her
son william also agree to pay to said Patrick Kelly the sum of 20
sillings equally between them within six months after date hereof, and
the said widow having also consented that her part of the lands shall
descend unto her son William after her decease pursuant to this will and
he, the said William having also consented to pay the several sums
chargeable upon him, as well by the said widow as by this agreement the
said widow is thereupon sworn executrix in Court in form of Law and
has given pledges for payment of debts and legacies, namely the Rev.
robert Brew and Henry Kelly, the witnesses.
I, Patrick Kelly of KK German, husband of Catherine Kelly als. Corkill,
daughter of the within named testator william Corkill, do heregby
acknowledge to have received from the hands of my mother in law Ann
Corkill and Patrick Corkill my brother in law, Executor of William
Corkill, his eldest brother, the full sum of 20 shillings, being the sum
that my said mother in law and brother in law William Corkill aforesaid,
since deceased, was obliged to pay unto me the said Patrick Kelly by the
annexed agreement, and I, the said Patrick Kelly do hereby release,
acquit and discharge my said mother in law ann Corkill and my said
brother in law Patrick Corkill their heirs, executors, administrators of
the said sum forever.

Ann Kennagh alias Corkill alias Kewley of KK German, being of perfect
mind and memory at the making thereof in manner and form following,
this 7th day of February 1777.
First - she committed her soul to Almighty God and her body unto
Christian burial.
Item - She left and bequeathed unto her loving husband Gilbert Kennagh
her half of the bullock that was purchased last Holland tide.
Item - She left unto her loving sons Thomas and John Corkill one sheep
each.
Item - She left unto her daughter Cathrine Kelly a blue gown a black
quilted petticoat and to barragh cloth newly made.
Item - She left and bequeathed unto her said sons Thomas and John
Corkill and her said daughter Cathrine Kelly all her shares or right of 15
or 16 which is in the hands of Matthew Crellin equally between.
Item - She left and bequeathed to her loving son Patrick Corkill her right
of a brown heifer two years old about May next.
Item - She left unto her grandson William Corkill 1 sheep.
Item - She left unto her granddaughter Elinor Kelly a brown gown two
wearing petticoats and the worst of her two check bedgowns.
Item - She left unto her sister's son Philip Kennagh a crown for giving a
sight on the sheep.
Lastly - she constituted, nominated and appointed her loving daughter
Ann Corkill whole executrix of all the rest of her effects moveable and
immovable of what kind or nature soever, excluding and debarring all
other claimers with six pence legacy each.
Will Proved March 13,1777.
May 26, 1777. Patrick Corkill enters a claim against the executrix of
ann Kennagh for 15.00.
The humble petition of Ann Corkill of KK German sheweth - That your
petitioner's parent Ann Kennagh, als Corkill als. Kewley departed this
life about the 9th day of February 1777, who by her last will left several
legacies and appointed your petitioner to be executrix of all the rest of
her good whatsoever. And whereas, she had several beasts of both cattle
and horses which now wants to be taken care of. (The petition was
asking for a quick settlement of estate in order to take care of animals).
Their son William b 1737 died in 1763--apparently never married.

This is affirmed to be the last will and testament of William Corkill of
Kirk German who departed this life about the 10th December 1763 being
in perfect mind and memory at the making hereof as follows:
First, committing his soul to Almighty God and his body to Christian
burial.
Item He left and bequeath to his sister Jony 30 shillings.
Item He left to his brother Thomas 20 shillings.
Item he left to his brother John 20 shillings.
Item he left to his brother Patrick all his right unto houses and lands.
Lastly he nominated and appointed his aforesaid brother Patrick Corkill to be whole and sole executor of all the rest of his goods movable and immovable whatsoever, excluding any other person or persons that milght pretend to claim further right to his goods with six pence legacy apiece.
Will Proved February 24, 1764.

Pledges: Thomas Shimmin and Gilbert Kennaugh both of German
"You are hereby required to appear before me on Monday the 24th at
Michael in answer to the suit of Alice Kewley of German dated February
17, 1764, to Gilbert Kennaugh and Ann his wife, Patrick Corkill, Patrick Kelly, and Catherine his wife all of German.
