Hi David
When James arrived in Sydney, New South Wales on the vessel "Crescent City", March 20 , 1854, he was crew , not a passenger , the ship had sailed from Liverpool December 3 with a great deal of diverse cargo , including 233 cases of Gin , 200 cases of Champagne, Furniture , 1 Piano, books, bricks , chinaware etc etc.
If he did jump ship in NSW , the first ever James Radcliffe/Radcliff/Radcliffe to marry was in 1865 to Margaret Kilgour , a Scot .
This family has a sad story to tell , but I cannot find James dying in NSW , only 2 James Radcliffes died 1874-1950 , both with wrong parents , one a child and the other aged 57 in 1907.
He also was not listed on the IOM to Australia Spreadsheet.
Cheers
