I think the Thomas Edward Corkill 1876-1944 is a different family from the one that Rob is looking for. It has a Gelling in it (Martha), which is why I had chased it down before. I don't have anything on John Thomas Corkill & Elizabeth Caine.

As it turns out, I do have some information on the family of John Corkill and Mary Ann Brew who married 5 Nov 1842 because their daughter Jemima married Thomas Gelling in 1878 Lonan. My program says Thomas is my 2nd cousin 3 times removed.

JC & MAB had the following children:

2. John Thomas bp 1 Mar 1846 & bd 21 Mar 1849 Marown
3. George William bp 21 Nov 1847 & bd 7 Apr 1849 Marown
4. Susanna bp 10 Feb 1850 Marown. 1851 & 1861 census say she was born in Patrick.
5. Louisa Mary bp 23 Nov 1851 Marown. 1861 & 1871 census say she was born in Patrick. She is the candidate to have gone to New Zealand in 1874?
6. Jemima bp 12 Mar 1854 Lonan. Md Thomas Gelling 27 Apr 1878 Lonan, 1 son Thomas Edward before TG died 1880. Md John James Lewin 6 Feb 1883 Lonan. Son John James died young, dau Jemima Ann (Annie) md a Kelly. Jemima bd 5 Jun 1936 Laxey.
7. John Titus bp 24 May 1856 (twin) Lonan. Md 21 Apr 1881 St Thomas Douglas to Anne Jane Skillicorn, d/o Wm Skillicorn & Catharine Cleator of Lonan.
8. Eunice Elizabeth bp 24 May 1856 (twin) Lonan. Md James Edward Corkill, a grocer, 14 Jul 1885 Braddan. Could he be related? Both were single and both had fathers named John Corkill according to IGI marriage. Census says he was born abt 1860 Maughold, but there are 2 identically named with identical fathers within 10 months at Maughold, so which is which?
9. George Thomas bp 10 Jul 1859 Lonan.

John Corkill was buried 25 Mar 1894 Lonan age 73 and Mary Ann was buried 24 Feb 1867 age 47. JC then married Christian Jane Cowle 9 Feb 1868 Bride. She was buried 1 Aug 1912 Lonan age 76.

John Cowle had a son by Christian:
