Hi Sue, you're a real gem: much appreciated. Seems the karma of illigitimacy is all too prevalent in both sides of my family. For example, my mother was born out of marriage, though her mother might have married her father, but I've have not found any record of a marriage between a Rowland and a Lyon. Subsequent children from this relationship were all recorded at birth as Lyons, unlike my mother who was registered as Rowland. To cap it all my mother's only daughter also had a child out of marriage - do you think these practices are cultural of some 'wayward' gene?!
