The only person you have mentioned as born in the IOM was "Richard Thomas Corlett .... born in Malew Street Castleton c 1887, to Thomas who died in 1917".

Where did the c.1887 date come from? Have you found him in censuses?

I can't find him in Brian Lawson's index to birth registrations. This was the closest:
Richard CORLETT [born] 21 Dec 1879, [regt] Arbory, [father] Thomas CORLETT, [mother] Mary KINVIG.
Please note: no second name Thomas.

I also can't find him in BL's index to the 1891 census. Do you know where he was at that date, or in 1901 and 1911?

The only Thomas Corlett in the England/Wales Civil Registration deaths index who died in Liverpool in 1917 was aged 42 according to Findmypast, which would make him b.c.1875. Or was he the Thomas Corlett buried in Malew aged 62 on 2 Dec 1917, so b.c.1855 which fits the dates better? But how do you know this Thomas was Richard Thomas's father? There were a LOT of Thomas Corletts in the IOM.

The Richard Thomas Corlett who died in Liverpool in 1966 was aged 87 [Findmypast] so was b.c.1879 if correct. Not c.1887 (where did this date come from?). Ada Corlett d.Liverpool 1945 was aged 60, so b.c.1885.

Can you supply places for the births and marriages you mention, and also sources for the information you have posted? I find the relationships confusing when you refer to "he". For example "He [assume Richard Thomas Corlett, born 1926 and died in Zimbabwe in 1980] was the only son of Richard Thomas Corlett and Ada (nee Read). Grandfather Corlett was born in Malew Street Castleton c 1887, to Thomas who died in 1917. I have no information about his mother. I do know he [which "he"?] married twice, his first marriage issuing Richard and Philip, and his second marriage issuing John, Tom, Steve and Bessie: [you also wrote that Richard Thomas Corlett 1926-1980 was an only son], I have no information as to what happened to them, their spouses and offspring".

Where was Richard Thomas Corlett born in 1926, and do you have this birth cert so that you can post the details?
