Hi Richard,
Thanks for your additional information.
By the time I got to the end of my lengthy replies I think I had worked out the relationships, so I hope you could follow them? I put the details in my previous messages, but will repeat briefly:
The earliest CORLETT you mentioned was Thomas 1856-1917, son of Philip Corlett & Ann (Skinner?), marr.1840 Patrick.
Thomas Corlett's two marriages were [1] to Mary KINVIG in 1879 whose father was Richard Kinvig (which is probably where all the Richard names came from) and her mother was Ann ELLIOTT, marr.1839 Arbory. Mary probably died aged 28 in Malew in 1886. She was bapt 1 Nov 1857 in Arbory.
I found two birth regts for their children: Richard 1879, and Philip 1881.
Thomas Corlett married [2] 1887 Margaret SANDFORD who was with him, his sons, and their daughter Eva Elizabeth (b.1888) in the 1891 census at 126, Malew Street, Malew, Castletown.
You wrote that children from his second marriage were John, Tom, Steve and Bessie.
Parents Thomas CORLETT & Margaret (Elizabeth) SANDFORD, from BL's index:
John CORLETT was born 11 Feb 1894, regt.Castletown
Tom CORLETT b.27 Oct 1891, Cas.
Stephen Sandford CORLETT born 4 June 1898, Cas.
Eva Elizabeth b.1888 could have been known as Bessie? [Elizabeth = Bessie]
Your ancestor was Richard (no Thomas) born 21 Dec 1879, [regt] Arbory, and died in Liverpool in 1966 aged 87.
His wife Ada Corlett d.Liverpool in 1945 aged 60, so b.c.1885.
I searched for their marriage, but no luck - even just using her first name Ada, in case she married under her previous married name. Could Richard Thomas Corlett b.1926 have been illegitimate, but both parents named on the cert?
Sue
