Hello Rob,
To find out whether Edward Corkill bapt 1780 in Maughold was indeed your ancestor, and possibly moved to Onchan or to Lezayre, you need to read through wills - unless you have some other evidence?
Where did you find that he and James were brothers?
One of the 1820 wills (below) was that of "Mr Edward CORKHILL Clerk of This Parish 44 years May 21 1820" - so not the one you are looking for. The other one could be, but don't know which was which.
Both 1820 deaths were from smallpox.
CORKILL, Edward 1820 Maughold A 80 0106242 - Possibility.
CORKILL, Edward 1820 Maughold E 1 0106421 - Possibility.
CORKILL, Edward 1844 Onchan E 1 0106444 - aged 70, so b.c.1774.
CORKILL, Edward 1858 Maughold E 9 0106459 - ? Died 1856 aged 40?
CORKILL, Edward 1861 Braddan E 19 0106462 - aged 78. Could be him? But more likely to be husband of Jane b.Michael (he was b.Onchan).
CORKILL, Edward 1862 Lezayre E 7 0106463 - aged 52
CORKILL, Edward 1875 Douglas E 55 0106480 - aged 65
These are from BL's wills database and the final number is the LDS film number which you can use to order the films to view for a small fee at a local Family History Centre. They usually allow you to order several at a time, and you can photocopy or photograph the wills. If you transcribe any to add to Brian's transcripts it will help other Corkill relatives in the future. Look in the phone book for the closest FHC, under "Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints". Open to all. I'd look at the two 1820 ones first.
