No, no Gellings thanks Eric. I was looking for a clue to the previous generation from William's place of birth. I was a bit concerned about the butcher rather than farmer given at Robert's 1868 marriage, but I have seen farmers before who were also butchers, and it was repeated as William's occupation in 1881.
Many thanks for all the census transcripts.
I had a look at 1891, and no Peel that I could see. Just headed Marown, and Corvonagh as the place name.
William gave his place of birth as Onchan in 1851, but they were living there and the rest of the family had b.Onchan, which I've noticed often extends to the whole family. It is usually more reliable if one family member had a different place of birth to the others which happened for William in 1861 and 1871 when he gave Lezayre. On the other hand he was "of Onchan" at his 1831 marriage.
There's only one extracted entry from Lezayre on the IGI for a William Corkill within two years of 1803, and that is dated 15 SEP 1805 Lezayre, Father: ROBT CORKILL, Mother: JANE LORD.
The William who Rob has listed was bapt 15 AUG 1802 Onchan son of Edward Corkhill & Ann Clarke.
