The Sea Terminal Tourist Office has Manx Gaelic " Guides " for various groups free of charge ,just cards for in your pocket. The phrases have phoniics underneath so that beginners can at least

try to pronounce the phrases correctly. Manx is extremely difficult ,in fact impossible , if you try to pronounce it as though English. // Manx Heritage Foundation have a free CD " Manx IN A Week "

Few people you will meet know more than a few phrases ----I tried & failed--- but keep one of the cards in my purse just to remind myself of basic greetings.

TO start you off depending what time of day you read this----Moghrey mie [ MORRa-MY ] Good Morming// Fastyr mie [ FASS-ter MY ] Good afternoon /evening // Gura mie ayd [gurra-a MY edd ] Thank you//

Slane lhiat [slenn L'YATT] Goodbye . The last two work in Ireland I have used them often. Spelling would be different but they sound the same. In Peel the Carine family have a super tearoom /lounge

& will unfailingly greet you with a few of these phrases --- which pleases me if I call in.It's near the Post Office. [ & no I'm not a relation of theirs or in any way connected except as a customer.]
