Thank you for this information, yes I think John must be illegitimate, not sure yet,
I found this Baptism for Jon Christian 05 JAN 1752 Andreas son of Gilbert Christian, but he can't have married Cath. Tear in 1762 as he was only ten yrs old,

so there are 2 John 's (or maybe 3 ?)
