Articles of Marriage Concluded Condesended & agreed upon
by and betwixt John Christian & Joney his wife of the psh
of KK Andreas for & in behalf of their son Gilbert ~
Christian on the part, And Esther Corkill of sd. parish
for & in the behalf of her Daughter Mary Corkill on
the other part as ffollows ~ ~ ~
first it is agreed upon that the sd. Gilbert Christian and
Mary Corkill shall Enter into the Holy Estate of Matrimo=
= ny within fourteen days of the date hereof, God and
Holy Church permitting the same ~ ~
2dly it is agreed upon that the afforesd. Esther Corkill doth hereby
promise & oblige herself to give her daughter Mary as
portion or marriage dowry, the one half or moiety of
all her Effects now in present possession and
another Quarter of her sd. goods after her decease, Exept
for part of that parcel of Intack land Called the Arch
= deacons Close which she reserves to herself wholly
to be at her own disposal at the Latter days, and
in consideration thereof the young couple vizt. Gilbert
Christian and Mary Corkill his Intended wife doth hereby
promise & oblige themselves to live & work with the afforsd
Esther Corkill their mother During her natural life time
and to be at Equal Expence in working the Lands & paying
the rents and Equaly to Enjoy the profits of the sd Lands
3dly it is agreed upon that the afforesd John Christian & Joney
his wife doth hereby give settle & Estate upon their son
Gilbert all their Lands vizt. the Croft, the Chrow ghlas and
the Curraugh of the Annual Lords rent of four Shills.
& five pence or thereabouts, the one half thereof to be ~
possesˊd by him the sd Gilbert Christian their son & Mary
Corkill his Intended wife after the death of Esther Corkill
And the other half after the death of the longer liver
of Either Jon. Christian and Joney his wife, and all
the sd. lands of four Shills. & five pence ^ Rent ^ or thereabouts
Shall To go and pass as Inheritance for Ever, in Consider
= ation of thereof the young couple doth hereby promise
un to pay unto their father & mother Jon. Christian and
Joney his wife or their Execrs. the sum of Twelve
pounds manks, Six pounds thereof to be paid unto them
at the End of three years after the date hereof vitz. three
pounds thereof to be paid by the young couple and the other three
pounds Esther Corkill promises to pay along with the young
Couple out of her ^ own ^ goods Equaly, And the other
Six pounds to be paid at the time the young Couplle
Comes to live & Enjoy the sd. Christians Estate or the one
half thereof, and the afforsd. Jon. Christian & Joney his wife
doth hereby promise to give them the sd young couplle the
A Quarter of the Crop of ye Corn that will be growing
or grew upon the four Shills. & five pence rents that
year that they come to live & Enjoy the sd rents
Lastly & for the True & faithfull performance of all
& singular the Beforgoing articles of marriage with all
the Covenants therein ^ mentioned ^ all partys have bound themselves
their Heirs Execrs. Adminsts. and Assigns under the
penalty of Two hundred pounds Ster: to be paid &
leveyed according to Law as witness their names

acknowledged before the Deemster, and now
openly published in Court, and no objection
offered agt. them, are therefore allowed off and
