Hi Sylvia,
Okay, I will send to your email address, all the information and photos that I have about my grandfather, James Matchett, who performed under the professional name of "Professor J.O. Matchett". I hope you will find them fascinating and very entertaining. I am told that he also received some sort of national medal for saving a drowning man from the icy waters of the sea in Liverpool in January of the early 1900's (sorry I don't recall the year off hand). Can you imagine how cold the water must have been then? Apparently the drowning man feel from a dock or pier or a ship or something.
Keep in mind that my grandfather came from a very poor Liverpool Irish family and he stayed at home as long as he could to look after his widowed Irish woman, Letitia, who was a charwoman, and when James got married he used his meager earnings to support his growing family, His father had died when James was only a few months old. His father's names was Richard Matchett. Richard Matchett's mother was Charlotte Kenna/Kennah/Kewney, etc. from the Isle of Man. (see our postings on this website - thanks to Sue and David who finally found Charlotte for whom I have been searching for years and years and years!!).
On some of the documents, I have scanned the photo and then also typed up a copy of what was printed on that document. Let me know what you think.
I hope this will give you some enjoyable reading time.
Kindest regards.
