There was a swimming pool on the shingle shore at Port Skillion between the Battery Pier & Douglas Head near the lighthouse. It was long ago for male swimmers only but I have seen photos of

ladies gathered on the path above admiring the swimmers.

In the fifties & sixties there was an annual SUMMER Douglas bay swim starting at Port Jack Beach at Onchan end of Douglas Bay & ending at Douglas harbour end of bay, Several times the

winner was a teenage girl.
