There is the excellent book now in 3rd edition by Janet Narasimham + others "The Manx Family Tree: A Beginners Guide to Records in the Isle of Man" (tho not really oriented to today's internet world), there is promised a new book by one of the curators of Manx Museum on family heritage (tho I'm not sure his background is in genealogy)
Much of the 'art' of searching ancestry.co etc records is well covered by general articles in many genealogy magazines tho such sources tend to ignore the IoM as comparatively small numbers.
There is a vast amount of material on Mormon microfilms (eg all the parish records, land records, wills, enquest files etc etc - catch is that most is unindexed
