Thanks David - I'm afraid all I have for William is that he was born in the Isle of Man which I got from the 1851 census of Liverpool where he lived with his wife Jane (Rowan). I have their marriage certificate which says they were married in Liverpool in Feb 1841 and that has his Father as John Kneen, Farmer. I know it's not much to go on and there are so many Kneen's with similar details. I have been looking at John Kneen (born abt 1785) who married Ann Quayle (born abt 1789) as they had a son William chr. in 1814 in Andreas. I have also found a John Kneen chr. Dec 1786 Ballaugh but don't know if he married or had any family, his parents were John Kneen and Mary Corkill.
