Re: Cox

Hello Ewan,

Last year you were looking for the marriages of both Maud Cox and Alice Emily Cox. I'm curious to know whether you ever looked at Maud N Cox Sep 1915 to Henry H Robinson Islington 1b 501?
You thought Maud aged 21 in the IOM in 1901 was the same Maude who was William Henry's daur aged 13 in 1891? [Birth registered on FreeBMD March quarter 1878 in Plymouth 5b 285 for Maude Nellie H Cox.]

Apologies if you have already posted this! I got a bit lost among the Coxes when I tried to backtrack through the messages.

I did see something interesting on the 1911 census scan, in case you have seen only the Household listing. Alice Emily Cox, Hd, 44 widow Working at home as an "Electro plater & gilder, & close plater by Hand", b.Ryde Isle of Wight, postal address Ballagarey Cottage Crosby, also filled in the section "Completed years the present marriage has lasted". She wrote "26" which was crossed out in red. Total children born alive "None". (Crossed out because being a "widow" she wasn't currently married.)

I don't know whether she would count her "married" years to date, or to the date of William Henry's death, but perhaps she was working with him during his marriage to Fanny, until they finally escaped to the IOM?

Sue
