Re: Cox
In Response To: Re: Cox ()

Maud Cox could quite possibly have gone back to Plymouth, however bearing in mind she had not family there, and also she would of been aged approximately 33 in 1912.

Liz, where did you see the marriage of a William Cox and Alice Cowdry in 1900 please? William Henry Cox's first wife was still named as Cox in 1901 so she may possibly not have married a James Crane in 1897.

I will see if I can have a look at those pictures you mention at the Naional Portrait Gallery, Lionel H Cox could of been known as Harry, as names were swapped around considerably.

The Alice Edwards living with Gordon Cox on the 1891 in Sussex, was well spotted, but .......... she was born approximately 1874 and the Alice on the 1901 census aged 40 was born about 1860.

When William Henry Cox was married he was a bachelor, it would of been a lot easier if he had been married before I could of then had a second chance of seeing his father's name and occupation. This is why it is so important to find out whether he was married to Alice who was on the 1901 census with him, be it on the Isle of Man or the mainland somewhere. I have exhausted all avenues to looking for a birth/baptism for him, really, this is why my eyes lit up when I saw that he was (I am sure it is him) living on the Isle of Man 1892/1894 and 1901.

Thank you so much for your replies and ideas, very much appreciated.
