John Drury Gelling did teach in Eccles before returning to the Island to become vicar of Kirk Christ, Rushen. He is still alive although not very well. He will be 87 on 30th October. His maternal grandmother was Frances Amelia, wife of Robert Charles Cain, and widow of James Cope. She actually died in Southport where she and her husband were on holiday. She is buried in Braddan.
