I recently received an obit for Margaret Gelling, a renouned expert on English place names. She died April 24 age 84. She was from Manchester.

Her husband was Peter Stanley Gelling, born 1925 in Marown (according to the Manx BMD index), an anthropologist and archeologist. He's listed in the Manx Notebook in the "New Manx Worthies" section. I've searched all around but can't find anything on his family history. Does anybody know which branch of Gellings he comes from? I think he died in 1984 or thereabouts and they lived in Birmingham where he was associated with the university.

My brothers want them in our branch, and have assigned me to find out. But I'm stuck.
