Hello, I am wondering if anyone can assist me here. I am related to Thomas RADCLIFFE, once abbott of Rushen Abbey. Has anyone researched this chap to any extent please as I would love to know more of my ancestor. I am in the I.O.M.F.H.S. and would welcome any information, initially for myself but also to pass on to the Society. This is where I am at the moment. Thomas RADCLIFFE born about 1490, 2nd son to Sir John Radcliffe. At some stage becomes the Abbott of Rushen Abbey until the dissolution. Various stories have him married before becoming a monk,to a Mary STANLEY,who dies at the birth of son Henry..after the dissolution he supposed to have married the daughter of Deemster McChrystyan (CHRISTIAN) ?? > I do know for a fact that he had a son,also Thomas,in turn his son,Sylvester then his son William. etc etc all the way down to me through a marriage with the CALLISTERS (My Gt.Grandfather x 7).
