Jean, please see Mary's reply to me regarding double transcriptions into a computer database. They are transcribing from the original volumes, not from film, and have to use pencils.
Hopefully they will still find a way to doublecheck the transcripts, because pencil transcripts would have to be typed up by someone, and copies of copies are even more likely to have errors.
