Like all proposed/accepted new places, things have to be built properly first from planning to operational stage.
Maybe they will eventually allow people from afar to pay for it like other places and maybe they wont. It would be pleasing if this was possible as I can't see many people making mammoth treks to the Isle of Man for the sole purpose of research.
I loved Sue's response Sun 18 Jan 2009 5:54 regards Scotland and maybe Tynwald will listen to the people? (I hope so). I do agree that the Isle of Man is a beautiful place to visit, but for those who live far away, pick the months of June, July and August for better weather. (fingers crossed)
I personally, will try to assist members of the FHS (Family History Society) from places far, far away, as I feel it important to help our brothers and sisters in their research.
(For those new to researching, I'd recommend joining the IOM FHS and buying a copy of the Manx Notebook as good starting points)
Hi Rick, (Sun 18th 11:26), I understand the FHS have pledged money to the scheme and will try to find out more on the 23rd of this month.
Frances, I've been detailed Bride to help out on and I've been looking through your Manx Notebook at Bride, pre checking the names etc, as I can understand your concern as to people error.
Can you see any problem areas that I might find?
Best wishes to all,
Paul Wade
