I have to agree with you Sue... living here in the USA I repeatedly have people ask me about various parts of the UK including wales, Scotland and Ireland as well as the Isle of White and Isle of Man. I have on occasion been able to direct people to good places of interest around the area of their ancestors. to make a point a close friend discovered that her family originated from monmouthshire, I was able to tell her a little of the area and give her websites to local fhs groups, they have been twice to visit the area after discovering that they still have family there and the family home was still standing. all this because they were able to get information online from the fhs. Paul PLEASE don't keep such a valuable asset to the island to your selves. people are willing to pay here in the USA for information from across the pond. I know for a fact that many of my friends have visited areas of their ancestors, the like with the old countries here is strong and people are becoming more and more interested in their past. don't shut the island off from the rest of the world. make them pay for the info from the comfort of their homes, then they are more likelly to want to visit.
