Mary M Yes (it was me, or should that be, it was I?) to the first question. But to the second, no, I did not find a photo of the shop.
However, during my recent visit, two or three weeks ago. I saw the premises in Victoria Street Douglas. It was Miss Curphey's office and residence.
The shop was (when she had it) a high class milliners, but her business was a limted company under which she owned a lot of property, including the Golf Links Hotel in Port St Mary. The hotel is now apartments.
Someone told me there was another Manxonia
milliners belonging to her in Port St Mary. Knowing the high class shop it was in Douglas, I find it hard to see such a place in the quiet fishing village of Port St Mary.
I would have like a picture of the Golf Links Hotel as it used to be, but could not find even a picture.
