Burials in Maughold - Charles Howland

I have an Ann Kinvig (b. 1813 Arbory d. 1887 Maughold) married to a Charles Howland in Bride – 28 May 1844

They had four children:

William b Arbory 1844
Elizabeth b. Ramsey 1846
Jane b. Ramsey 1850
Thomas b. Ramsey 1853

I found the family in the 1851 census living in Ramsey (Maughold) - Class: HO107; Piece: 2524; Folio: 322; Page: 28.

Charles Howland born Andreas and Ann Howland (nee Kinvig) born Arbory with two children.

At least it seems to be them because the children with them match up for birthdate and place of birth (re IGI records).

The oldest son William is in Arbory in 1851 with his grandmother Jane Kinvig (nee Cubbon) Class: HO107; Piece: 2526; Folio: 248; Page: 23

However my problem is the age of Charles Howland that’s given on the census – he is aged 80 born about 1771...... Ann is 40.

I cannot not find a birth or death record for Charles. He died sometime between 1853 and 1861 because in the 1861 census record Ann Howland is a widow.

I checked the burial records on Brian Lawson's site but nothing matches agewise.

I presume that he would have been buried in Maughold where they were living. Ann Howland (nee Kinvig) remained in Maughold until her death in 1887.

Does anyone have access to these records or maybe direct me to a source so that I can perhaps verify his age.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Mary Ann
