Re: Gilbert CHRISTIAN
In Response To: Re: Gilbert CHRISTIAN ()

Hi Averil,

If you really want to become confused, here are some of the Christian and Garrett connections in Andreas.

But firstly, David has Gilbert Christian and Mary Corkill's daughter Joney bapt 15 May 1748, married William Garrett 1770, and alive at the time of her mother's will in 1805, with daughter Esther.

Here goes with the convoluted families:
Gilbert's parents were John Christian (of Bride at his 1718 marriage to Joney SKINNER) Epis will 1774. His sister Catherine married John RADCLIFFE of Belfast, Andreas. Another sister Joney marr. Thomas MYLECHARANE who was deceased in 1774 (d.1767 Jurby, of Lezayre).

Gilbert's brother William 1731-1813 was the second husband of Joney KILLIP who married [1] another William CHRISTIAN in Andreas on 25 June 1754. William [1] d.1773 (decree). His five children were John, Cath, Ellinor, Jane, and Joney Christian "... who being all underage their uncles by the father's side namely Richard Christian, Philip Tear, & Wm Cleater sworn supervisors..". Catherine married Christopher LOONEY, Jane married John GARRETT Andreas 1790, Joney was buried 1791, the same year as her mother Joney Christian als Killip.
The uncle Richard CHRISTIAN was my ancestor, and the other two supervisors his brothers-in-law.

Joney KILLIP widow of William CHRISTIAN married Gilbert's brother William CHRISTIAN [named as the stepfather in William [1]'s decree] Andreas 8 Oct.1774, and had two further sons Willm 1775 and Robt 1778.

Most of the above ones are not in David's articles and you can read those for yourself, including details of Gilbert & Mary's 10 children.
