The Cath Radcliffe who married Daniel TEAR 29 July 1733 was the daughter of John RADCLIFFE of Ballakelly, Andreas, and Alice BREW. John died 12 Dec.1712. His will did not refer to his wife by name, but mentioned his father-in-law Philip Brew, and his eldest daughter Catherine Radcliffe, and his “three children Philip, Cathrine, & Margrett” who were his executors. Philip bapt.19 Feb.1705 was the heir of Ballakelly, Andreas.
Alice Radcliffe als Brew married [2] Stephen LACE by whom she had a son William, bapt. Andreas 19 June 1714. Stephen Lace died 5 Oct.1723 [Andreas Epis will 0106370]. In this will he left his son William a parcel of --- land to which his wife consented, and left his step daughters Cath Radcliffe and Margaret Radcliffe a yearling apiece. He left William Brew his brother-in-law a sheep and a lamb, and “to the Heir Philip Radcliffe a steer”.
Alice’s children who were named as beneficiaries in her brother William Brew’s 1768 Decree were Catherine, wife of Daniel TEARE, and Margaret, wife of Wm. KENNEEN. The eldest daughter Catherine and her husband Daniel Teare were executors for the will of her mother Alice Lace als Radcliffe als Brew.
