I have been reading this thread with interest and Alan has been very positive in his comments. I do not think for one moment the FHS volunteers need defending from any criticism - none has been forthcoming from him. He has merely given an excellent suggestion, one worthy of discussion, and to just pass it back for him to 'do it yourself' is a little flippant. I for one would volunteer, as I am sure many more would, to transcribe parts but it would need someone in 'central' control in order to prevent duplication of work and efforts. The volunteers have been and are doing a wonderful job an we are all extremely grateful for all their work but as it has been said the cost of buying all the publications is prohibitive to a lot of us and if this will enable more people to purchase the information more cheaply and thus create more revenue for the FHS - surely this is not a point to be dismissed so lightly.
