I think you are all forgetting that the FHS is kept alive by volunteers, living locally. Be grateful that they continue to transcribe MIs, parish registers, etc., produce and post the quarterly magazine, and answer everyone who writes to them by snail mail. If they feel uncomfortable with email and the internet, and if you have brilliant ideas as to how they could do things better, then help by transcribing and indexing LDS films yourselves, and offer to put these on CD in the way you suggest, for the benefit of the FHS. Who knows, they may be so impressed with how well these sales go that they might be persuaded to extend the method to earlier transcriptions.
