I have traced my ancestor, Nicholas Cain, back to the very early 1700's in America . This is my brick wall. About 30 miles away, I am finding the name Kaighin/Kaighen in some land records. Can anybody tell me, is this the same line of surname? I know that the spelling Kaighin is still used today in America & on the Isle of Man, but could my spelling of Cain be from the same family as early as the 1700's?
