Re: Looking For Parents of John Tear of Ballakenag

Frances,

Once again, thank you so much. It's amazing that I might get back that far. I'm diligently documenting via parish records I can find.

As such, I've built a "straw dog" family tree based upon the land/will records (plus parish records I've found thus far) for this branch of the Tear(e) family tree. (Word file, enclosed) I know you are busy, but would be honored if you took a look and LMK if this jibes with your thoughts.

Finally, do you think that there's a connection to the (in)famous "fairy doctors" of Ballawhane? Thomas Tear mentions the farm in his 1888 memoir. Plus, Feltham (1797) and Train (1845) mention John Tear as part of a long line of Andreas "herbalists"? Fascinating reads, particularly the story of him "exorcising" crows from a field of corn! Any other info much appreciated!
