Hi All,

I'm looking for information on the Tear(e) family from Ballakenag in Andreas. Specifically documentation for the names of the parents of John Tear (my 4th ggrandfather) who emigrated to the US and died in Leroy Township OH in 1841. Yes, the same John/William Teare from the Thomas Tear account of 1888.

According to Thomas' writing, John's father was named Philip from Andreas. He did not mention Philip's wife by name. Apparently both Philip and his wife died close together of "stitches" while John and his older brother (and heir to the farm) William were young. According to Thomas, John was born July 1760.

I did find a John Teare born to a Philip Teare in Andreas, baptized 8 FEB 1759 (enclosed). I cannot read the word in parentheses, seems like a place name. Any help appreciated. I don't know if this is "my" John or not. BTW, there is another John Teare born shortly before from the same place but I believe his father's name is also John.

Quite confusing when the names and dates are so close together for different people! Any info or hints on where else I can look to document this family tree of Ballakenag and the surrounding Teare farms would be of great help. Is there a published source besides Thomas' account or a tree based on his writing?
