Here’s a theory, Viv.
Hannah Sinclair was the Nottingham-born wife of John Sinclair (b circa 1815 in Ireland) a professor of music. I found the fractured family in several censuses to build up a picture. In 1881 Hannah 55 was living in Douglas on Circular Road with one of her daughters, Clari age 34, a music teacher born in Sheffield. Meanwhile, husband John Sinclair 64 was in Sheffield with son John 30 (born in Sheffield, also a music professor) and 20 yr old daughter Annie (Helen Ann). It’s possible that Hannah had left her husband and had fled to a place where she might be difficult to find. She may have been living alone in Douglas by 1885, so that she died with no family to arrange a burial. Then in 1910, son John discovered his mother’s burial place and bought the burial plot with a view to erecting a headstone.
